Cyprus pros and cons!

Ceļot Bez Robežām 21.09.2023

Taking all the pros and cons into account, we evaluate whether Cyprus meets our desire to return there again.

Let's start with the cons:
- The island is divided into two parts: there is Cyprus, which is a European Union country, and there is Northern Cyprus, which is not a country but is considered part of Turkey, and therefore one must account for border crossing and possibly a queue, like in the old days at the Polish border.
- Crossing the border with a rented car is problematic, and not all rental companies offer this option.
- If you've been to Northern Cyprus and arrive in Cyprus, it's best not to tell anyone about your adventure in Northern Cyprus; you might become an enemy.
- Driving on the left side can be difficult for many.
- For many, delicious food and cheap beer in Northern Cyprus might be a con, believe it or not 😀
- Navigation often lies, and there are places where there are no signs to certain attractions.
- Public transport does not exist in Northern Cyprus.
- For girls, this will be a plus, but for guys a minus: clothes are very cheap in Northern Cyprus; after visiting a few shops, you might have to buy an extra suitcase for the plane 😀
- There is quite a lot of dirt, especially along the roadside.
- If you fly into Northern Cyprus and cross the border, Cypriot border guards might complain that you have entered illegally, as they do not consider the Northern Cyprus airport an official airport.

Finally, it's time for the pros:
+ Fantastic weather in autumn, with hot days and warm evenings to enjoy until the end of October, and the same applies to spring, starting already in April.
Their approach to life is so calm and easy-going that after a few days, your stress level has dropped by 90%, and you start to enjoy your holiday.
+ Although the car steering wheel is on the right and driving is on the left, no one here gets angry or honks, and everyone is very polite, even if you make a mistake in a roundabout or intersection.
+ The cheap prices in Northern Cyprus could be a magnet for many girls and women.
The fantastic views, turquoise water, and white beaches give you the feeling of being in a very exotic country.
+ The small mountain villages with great apartments and cozy cafes.
Perhaps this point should be number 1: the kind, accommodating, friendly, and super hospitable people.
+ The island's diversity, from rocky and wild beaches to banana palm plantations.
+ Drive in any direction you want, the sea is everywhere.
+ The abandoned city of Famagusta in Northern Cyprus is such an emotional bomb that it's worth flying to this island for this city alone.

Answering the question of whether we would like to return to this island someday, the answer is unequivocally - Yes! So much remained unseen and unexplored that we are ready to go to this island more than once.
Not many pros have been listed here yet, but you will definitely see them all in our series about Cyprus in the new season, in 2024.
