During these long winter evenings, one just wants to go somewhere with friends and family, and one evening, while sitting at the computer, I saw an interesting and attractive offer from Hookusbookus.com hotel offers, where the Estonian hotel, V Spa Hotel and Conference centre, located in the city of Tartu, has a pleasant discount. Since we had already been here 3 years ago and knew that the spa center is truly excellent, Rodrigo and Lote and I decided that we must go, and we also persuaded  Oskars Locis, Lelde's brother, and his girlfriend  Skrastiņa Annette to join us.
I don't know about you, but for us, the initial plan always gets adorned with various corrections and additions, and in the end, what started as a one-night, two-day trip turned into a three-night, four-day excursion, covering exactly 1000km, visiting 2 hotels in Estonia and one excellent Latvian guest house called  Apartamenti Sniegi.
On the first day, we drove to the Estonian city of Pärnu and stayed in one of the hotels Oskars and Anete had found. We enjoyed a small spa complex and then headed out for dinner.
So our first day passed, and we all went to bed early, as the next day we were to drive to the city of Tartu, where we would enjoy the large and diverse spa complex at V Spa hotel.
In the morning, we drove to the sea, admired the beautiful weather with the sun shining brightly and no clouds in sight, and then headed towards Tartu. Along the way, we stopped at the steep cliffs called Tori Porgu, located on the Pärnu River.
Arriving at V Spa hotel around 13:00, we got our rooms, one of which had its own jacuzzi bath and a large display window separating the bathroom from the room.
After unpacking and putting on our swimsuits, we headed straight to the spa complex, as the children had been looking forward to this for several days, and we couldn't deny them this joy, even though we ourselves would have liked to relax in bed a bit after the long journey!
As expected for a Sunday, the spa complex was crowded, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the pools, jacuzzis, saunas, and cold plunge pools. This spa complex is truly large, with a big pool and a current river, several jacuzzis and children's pools, salt rooms, saunas, and a salt pool. There's a separate sauna complex with several saunas, infrared lamps, an ice room, a cold plunge pool, and a relaxation area where you can sit in wicker rocking chairs or play checkers. There's also a separate sauna where you can see the city street through a large glass window or watch animated movies on TV. This area also has a bar where you can enjoy various drinks, as well as lunch or an afternoon snack.
Another big plus for the hotel is that the door to the spa center is also the door to a supermarket, which is in the same building as the hotel, so you can go shopping anytime without even putting on winter clothes.
We enjoyed the evening walking through the streets of Tartu and having dinner at a local bar.
The next morning, we visited the spa complex twice, before and after breakfast, with the intention of giving the children enough pool time, saunas, and various water activities to last them a long time.
After soaking in the pools, we packed our belongings and headed across the street to the AHHAA center, where the children had an hour of free time to enjoy and marvel at various scientific inventions.
From Tartu, our journey continued to Madona, where we planned to stay overnight at  Apartamenti Sniegi. On the way, we visited my good friend,  Jurijs Andruskevics, who has moved from Dobele to the Madona region, bought a great property, spruced it up, and is now happy to host guests. As he said, we were the first from Dobele to visit him. Thanks to Jurijs and his girlfriend for the warm welcome and treats, and around 8:00 PM, we reached our destination for the day, Apartamenti Sniegi.
Upon opening the door, we realized that we had arrived at white, new, neat, cozy, and romantic apartments, where we could enjoy the evening by going to the sauna, soaking in the bath, playing games, cooking dinner, and having a great end to the evening after our long journey from Estonia. For the next day, we had prepared skiing clothes, as the apartments are located right by the biathlon ski track, but unfortunately, the weather conditions were not favorable, and we missed out on skiing. However, the evening in these apartments was wonderful. My children and I slept on the second floor, while Oskars and Anete were in the double bed on the first floor, with huge windows overlooking the winter forest.
This adventure has also been filmed and will soon be available on our YouTube channel Gold Barbell, but for now, you can see some of our pictures!
