India, for experienced travelers only
Together with my friends, Ilvija, Lauma, Edijs and Jānis, we set off to explore India.
We flew with LOT via Warsaw, and our first destination was Delhi.
Our first impressions of India are quite crazy; taxi prices vary and drivers often don't even know where they're going, but are still willing to take you. Hotels misrepresent their locations, and the hotels themselves, costing around 10 EUR per night, are quite dreadful, but the areas they are located in are even worse.
However, once we met our driver, who will be with us for the entire trip, we drove with him through New Delhi and were surprised at how clean and tidy everything was, as we had expected something dirtier.
In the evening, we visited a Latvian couple, Dainis and Ieva, who live and work here, and listened to their stories about India!
India's 2nd Largest Spice Market
In the 2nd episode of India, we experience hotel breakfasts and head to Old Delhi, where everyone is seated in cycle rickshaws and taken through the narrow market streets, showcasing various Indian goods, from wedding dresses to various jewelry! The world's second-largest and Asia's largest spice market surprises us with its vast offerings, by showing us how the workers live and how they manage to move these large bags of goods, which in Europe, are moved and transported by special vehicles.
We convince the guide to take us on the world's second-best subway and are surprised at how high-quality it is in India, despite carrying 2.4 million passengers every day.
Later in the episode, we share our first impressions of our adventures in India, travel to the city of Agra in our van, and in the evening, we try driving Tuktuks ourselves.
How does an Indian Tuk Tuk driver's family live?
In the 3rd episode of our Indian adventure, we are ready to see one of the 7 Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal, and our team has a huge task this morning: to capture and film the moment when Edijs proposes to Lauma, because in this huge crowd of people, anything can happen. But we did it, we didn't miss it, we photographed and filmed it, and Edijs proposes to Lauma right in front of the symbol of love, the Taj Mahal.
In the afternoon, we visit Agra's most popular sights, try on Indian clothes, listen to stories about marble processing, finally eat traditional Indian dishes, and in the evening, we visit a local Tuktuk driver to meet his family and children!
Jaipur, The Pink City or the Paris of India.
In episode 5 of our Indian adventure, we continue to explore Jaipur, the Pink City, or the Paris of India, and one of the three cities of India's Golden Triangle.
We are joined by Jaipur's most popular guide, who is even depicted on T-shirts available on every corner.
After an energizing tea, we head to the flower market and the adjacent vegetable market, where someone even tries a spicy chili, and we are shocked by the women's endurance and strength as they carry heavy bags and boxes.
We see how fabrics are dyed and how ornaments are made on them, visit the royal residence, and in the evening, we stumble upon a street festival with elephants, camels, and a chance to beat the drums!
We start the next day with Amber Fort, a visit to the elephants, and the Monkey Temple, but in the evening, we say goodbye to Edijs and Lauma, as they have to fly back to Norway, while we fly on to....
Is Goa really the best place in India?
Having said goodbye to our travel companions, Edijs and Lauma, we board the plane and head to the Indian region of Goa!
We spend our final days here riding mopeds, enjoying the natural scenery and beaches, we also check out the nightlife, and in the last few days, we meet Latvian beach volleyball players, cheer them on in their competitions, and even have a little chat!
